In 1991, Select-Tech, Inc. created a subsidiary company, QuickStrip, for the research and development of its AMMO Plastic Media. At the time, auto manufacturers were recalling vehicles because of peeling paint. Studies showed the best way to handle the situation was to strip the vehicle down to bare metal using plastic media and have the dealer or local body shop repaint it. QuickStrip did much of the blasting for dealers in southern New York, northern New Jersey, western Connecticut and northeast Pennsylvania. In turn, Select-Tech was able to pass along helpful information to buyers of AMMO Media regarding various sizes and hardnesses the customer should use for their particular application. Now that the warranty work is over, QuickStrip is still going strong; blasting collectible, antique and show cars prior to restoration, delivery and dump trucks, heavy equipment, stock cars, boats, and just about anything that had paint on it.
